Lead Free Processes and Manufacturing

MMDC does not use either pure lead or pure tin in its products. Our standard device pin configurations use plated gold over nickel flashed kovar. Upon customer request, leads are available as solder-dipped (using a lead/tin coating, SN60 unless otherwise specified, as required by either their specification or various other military/commercial specifications).

There have been no clear standardizations of lead-free materials and processing for either the OEM or end-item users. Until there is a greater knowledge of the direction of process and material development in the electronic manufacturing industry as a whole, MMDC has no immediate plans to change the material for our current solder dipping activity. MMDC will however endeavor to stay abreast of industry environmental advancements and requirements, from local to global as they pertain to our product.
